ReplyDeleteWhen American children learn the alphabet, we learn it in a song. It the last letter were pronounced zed, the song would mess up the rhyme scheme, which is followed by these lines:
ReplyDelete"Now I know my ABC's
Next time won't you sing with me?"
If it ended in zed, the song wouldn't flow so nicely.
But that's a horse of a different color (or is that colour?)
